March 21, 1966 — 87 residents of MacIntyre Residence Hall watched flashing lights hover over the campus arboretum for over three hours. Civil defense director William Van Horn investigated and confirmed the lights through binoculars. Students took detailed notes in real time. Part of the famous 'Swamp Gas' incident.
