History & Paranormal Activity
The BOQ at Fort Sam Houston — where Ulysses Grant and Robert E. Lee both stayed — is haunted by a cavalry officer who was court-martialed and killed himself in his quarters. Officers quartered here have reported a figure in Civil War cavalry uniform in the hallway, and multiple occupants of the same room have independently described waking to find it standing at the foot of their bed.

The court-martial record for the officer was expunged from Army records during a 1902 administrative review — three separate soldiers preserved handwritten copies, now in private collections, that contradict the official account of his death.
