Bisbee — Lavender Pit Mine Overlook
Bisbee
Ghost Town Moderate Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
The enormous open-pit copper mine that ate half of old Bisbee is ringed by abandoned neighborhoods and mining infrastructure. Visitors at the overlook report seeing figures moving in the mine pit — small men with lamps — in the pre-dawn hours, interpreted as the spirits of the hundreds of miners who died in the Copper Queen and other underground mines over a century of operation. The mine's Queen Mine Tour takes visitors underground along original tunnels where cold spots, EVPs, and the smell of blasting powder are documented on nearly every tour.
