Gravity Hill — New Paris

On Rte. 896 near New Paris, cars placed in neutral roll uphill for an eighth of a mile — one of the most dramatic and well-documented gravity hill effects in America. The local legend blames the death of a school bus full of children at the bottom of the hill: the children's spirits push cars uphill to prevent another accident. When visitors coat their bumpers in talcum powder before the roll, small handprints appear in the powder — prints consistent with the size of children's hands. Multiple physics professors have visited and confirmed the roll exceeds what the optical illusion alone explains.
