This 1858 mansion was another Underground Railroad stop, and a tragedy occurred when a lantern was accidentally knocked over, starting a fire that killed several escaped slaves whose bodies were buried in the basement. Staff report the smell of decomposition in summer, the sound of chains, cold spots, and full-body apparitions in the basement and main staircase.
