Hotel Galvez
Galveston
Haunted Building High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
Built in 1911 on a beach still littered with the bones of 8,000 people killed in the catastrophic 1900 hurricane, the Hotel Galvez is built on trauma. The most frequently reported ghost is a young woman who hanged herself in Room 505 while awaiting her fiancé's return from sea — his ship had already sunk in a storm. Guests in her room report the TV turning on at 3 AM, the closet door swinging open, and a profound sadness. Phantom children are heard playing in the lobby on nights that correspond to anniversary dates of the great hurricane.
