Maple Hill Cemetery — Huntsville

The oldest and largest cemetery in Alabama contains over 80,000 burials including four Alabama governors, a Supreme Court Justice, and thousands of Civil War soldiers from both sides. The divided loyalties of the town — families split between Confederate and Union — are said to manifest as cold pockets that move between sections of the cemetery. A female apparition known as the 'Cemetery Angel' has been photographed near the Italian marble sculpture in the southeast corner so many times that the image appears on Huntsville ghost tour brochures.
