Old Slave Mart Museum

The only surviving building from Charleston's extensive network of slave markets, this 1859 complex processed hundreds of thousands of enslaved people sold at auction. Museum staff document extensive paranormal activity: the sound of chains dragging across floors in empty rooms, a woman's sobbing heard in the holding pen area where families were separated, and shadow figures seen in the early morning hours before the museum opens.
