Paulding Light — Road's End

Michigan's most famous mysterious light appears nightly at the end of Robbins Pond Road in the western Upper Peninsula — a bobbing, swaying ball of light that has been witnessed for over a century. A 2010 University of Michigan study attributed it to car headlights on a distant highway; investigators point out the light existed 70 years before that highway was built and moves in patterns inconsistent with fixed traffic. The local legend says it is the spirit of a railroad brakeman killed on the former Soo Line tracks who still waves his lantern. It appears 300+ nights per year.
