Saugatuck Dunes Haunted Shoreline

The shoreline dunes near Saugatuck are the site of a persistent local legend: the buried city of Singapore, a logging boomtown that thrived until 1875 when the forests were stripped bare and the town was buried under advancing sand dunes. Hikers in the state park report seeing chimney tops and window frames just barely visible after heavy winds shift the sand.
