The Kennecott Mine
Wrangell-St. Elias
Ghost Town High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
The world's richest copper mine operated from 1903 to 1938 and was abandoned almost overnight when the ore ran out — machinery, tools, and personal belongings were left exactly as workers dropped them. The National Park Service maintains the site in a state of arrested decay. Rangers report apparitions of miners in the mill building, sounds of machinery running when everything is still, and the smell of copper that intensifies in specific rooms.

🔒 Classified Field Investigation Notes
A 1936 Kennecott company memo, found in the abandoned manager's office, references an ore vein that geologists estimated would sustain the mine for 50 additional years — the decision to close was made three months later with no documented geological justification.
