Tybee Island Lighthouse
Tybee Island
Haunted Lighthouse Moderate Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
Georgia's oldest and tallest lighthouse has stood on Tybee Island since 1736, rebuilt after colonial wars, Revolutionary cannonfire, and Civil War damage. A keeper who lived in the lighthouse for 33 years refused to leave after death: visitors report a transparent man descending the spiral staircase and pausing on the lantern room level as if checking the light. Photographs taken through the lighthouse windows frequently capture faces in the glass. The keeper's cottage next to the tower has had every resident complain of furniture moved overnight.
